Description
Height: 42cm
Width: 28cm
A striking Assyrian terracotta urn featuring deeply carved reliefs of winged, bearded figures believed to be inspired by Apkallu or Lamassu, protective spirits from ancient Mesopotamian mythology.
This large vessel evokes the artistry of Neo-Assyrian palace reliefs, with prominent feathered wings, traditional stylised beards, and tiered headdresses typical of divine or semi-divine figures in 9th–7th century BC Assyrian art.
The urn’s surface shows deliberate aging and natural weathering effects, lending it a timeworn, archaeological feel.
