A striking large art glass vase in the iconic Picasso-inspired face design popularised by Murano glass studios during the late twentieth century.

Formed from substantial clear glass with sweeping bands of vibrant blue and emerald green, the piece features applied facial details including a prominent nose, stylised eye, lips and flowing black profile line.

This sculptural design draws inspiration from the abstract portraiture and Cubist influences associated with the work of Pablo Picasso, a style that became highly sought after amongst Murano glassmakers and contemporary studio artists.

Similar face vases and sculptural heads have been produced by a number of Venetian workshops and Murano artists, becoming some of the most recognisable forms in modern Italian art glass.

The vase displays beautifully from every angle, functioning equally as a decorative vessel and a standalone glass sculpture.
