A striking Victorian drumhead mantel clock featuring a skeletonised movement, ornate pierced brass fretwork and an enamel chapter ring with Roman numerals.

The circular drum case is mounted upon a stepped plinth base and retains its winding key.

The exposed movement allows the intricate gearing and mechanism to be viewed through the centre of the dial, creating an impressive decorative display even when not running.

The brass case is further enhanced with engraved geometric decoration around the drum body, reflecting the Victorian fascination with both engineering and ornamentation.

Drumhead clocks became particularly popular during the late Victorian period, combining traditional clockmaking with increasingly decorative and architectural case designs.
