An original enamelled advertising sign for the famous British confectionery brand Fry’s Chocolate, featuring classic white lettering on a rich dark blue ground.
Manufactured by the Patent Enamel Co Ltd, Birmingham & London, whose maker’s mark remains visible within the design.
Founded in Bristol during the 18th century, Fry’s became one of Britain’s most recognised chocolate manufacturers and produced some of the earliest mass-market chocolate bars.
Original enamel advertising signs from the company remain highly sought after by collectors of advertising memorabilia, enamel signs, shop displays and confectionery-related antiques.
This example displays attractive age-related wear with areas of enamel loss, edge chipping and surface rust around the mounting holes and borders.
The strong typography and deep colour remain remarkably striking, giving the sign excellent decorative appeal while retaining its authentic period character.
An eye-catching piece of British advertising history that would make a superb addition to a kitchen, café, home bar, sweet shop display, collection of enamel signs, or industrial interior.
