A distinctive Art Deco lidded jar designed by Adolf Beckert (1884–1925) and produced in Steinschönau, Bohemia, circa 1920.
This finely executed piece combines clear glass construction with bold black linear decoration, characteristic of the geometric precision associated with early Art Deco design.
The cylindrical body is accentuated by evenly spaced vertical banding, creating a structured, architectural effect.
The lid features a striking enamelled scene depicting a stylised female figure walking a dog within a landscape, rendered in a palette of soft greens, purples, and yellows.
The silhouette and composition reflect the strong graphic influence of the period, with an emphasis on movement and modernity.
Beckert, known for his forward-thinking glass designs, worked within the influential Bohemian glassmaking tradition, and pieces attributed to him demonstrate a shift toward modern decorative arts in the early 20th century.
The combination of functional form and artistic lid decoration makes this an excellent example of decorative glass from the interwar period.
