Description

Height: 74cm

Width: 47cm

An impressive late 19th Century ceremonial sash associated with the Independent Order of Rechabites, professionally displayed within a later glazed frame.

Richly embroidered with colourful insignia, heraldic motifs, and decorative lettering, the sash bears the titles “Past Chief Ruler” and “Independent Order of Rechabites – Salford Unity”.

The Independent Order of Rechabites was a prominent friendly society and temperance organisation founded in the 19th Century, promoting abstinence from alcohol, mutual aid, and charitable support.

Ceremonial regalia such as this sash played an important role in meetings, processions, and official lodge functions.

The silk sash retains its elaborate bullion fringe and beautifully detailed embroidery, making it an excellent piece of social history.

The combination of British heraldic imagery, temperance symbolism, and fraternal regalia creates a highly decorative display piece suitable for collectors of masonic and friendly society memorabilia, social history, or Victorian textiles.

Presented within a glazed frame ready for wall display.
