Description
Width: 19.5cm
A vibrant and highly decorative 19th century majolica plate featuring a raised grapevine design at its centre, surrounded by a beautifully pierced (reticulated) border.
The plate is finished in a rich turquoise glaze, with highlights in green and purple that bring the grape motif to life.
The reverse bears a moulded number 297 and an impressed mark within a hexagonal cartouche, likely attributed to a Continental or English pottery known for majolica ware in the late Victorian period.
Its deeply moulded surface and bright glazes are characteristic of this era’s desire for bold, nature-inspired ceramics.
A collector’s piece in excellent condition, this plate would look fantastic displayed on a wall or within a majolica grouping.
