A stunning example of Victorian majolica pottery, this richly coloured jug features an intricate design of raised lotus blossoms and lily pads in classic turquoise, brown, and white glazes. Dating to the late 19th century, it displays the unmistakable craftsmanship and vibrant glazing typical of English majolica from the 1880s. The tall form, flared spout, and shaped handle make this both a functional piece and a striking decorative object.
The base is hand-numbered “77” in blue, a common marking practice in early majolica pieces. The mottled glaze on the base and rich pooling of colour throughout point to its age and handmade nature. This piece is a beautiful collector’s item or statement jug for your shelf or sideboard.
