Description
Width: 22.5cm
A beautifully worked Arts & Crafts copper charger dating to the early 20th century, circa 1900–1910.
The piece features a hand-embossed design of flowing, stylised foliage arranged in a continuous circular pattern around a central well, reflecting the organic forms and craftsmanship associated with the Arts & Crafts movement.
The decoration is executed in relief, giving depth and movement to the surface, with the hammered copper ground providing subtle texture and contrast.
The warm, rich patina has developed over time, enhancing the character of the piece and highlighting the detail within the design.
Chargers of this type were produced both as decorative wall pieces and as display items for sideboards or cabinets, often reflecting the movement’s emphasis on handmade quality and natural motifs.
This example offers a strong decorative presence while remaining true to the principles of early 20th century design.
Care instructions:
Clean gently with a soft cloth and avoid abrasive materials that may damage the surface. Do not over-polish, as the natural patina forms an important part of the piece’s character. Keep in a dry environment to prevent further oxidation.
