An original British Pattern 1856/58 sword bayonet complete with its leather scabbard and brass mounts.

Featuring the characteristic yataghan-style curved blade, steel crossguard and brass-mounted grip with dark chequered scales, this example represents one of the most recognisable bayonet patterns of the Victorian period.

Developed for use with British Enfield rifle variants during the mid-19th century, the Pattern 1856 and subsequent Pattern 1858 bayonets combined the functionality of a sword with that of a military bayonet.

The distinctive recurved blade and substantial brass hilt reflect contemporary military design and the changing requirements of infantry warfare during the Victorian era.
