Description
An original Cambrian Type No. 1A miner’s safety lamp manufactured by J.M.W. Ltd of Harlow, Essex.
Constructed from brass, steel and glass, this classic colliery lamp features its original maker’s plaque, protective glass chamber, ventilated upper section and suspension hook.
Safety lamps played a vital role throughout Britain’s mining industry, providing illumination while helping to detect dangerous gases underground.
The Cambrian range became widely used across British coalfields during the mid-20th century and remains highly collectable today amongst mining, industrial and engineering enthusiasts.
This example displays a pleasing aged patina to the brass components and retains its authentic industrial character.
An excellent piece of mining heritage suitable for display within a collection, office, workshop, man cave or industrial-themed interior.
