An original early 20th century sprinkler replacement cabinet manufactured by Mather & Platt Ltd of England, a renowned engineering company noted for its fire protection systems.
Constructed in solid timber with glazed inspection panel to the door, the cabinet retains its original printed “Sprinkler Replacement Cabinet” designation together with the maker’s plaque and working lock with key.
Originally intended to house replacement sprinkler heads and associated fire safety components, this piece represents an interesting example of industrial and architectural salvage.
The cabinet features attractive dovetail construction, internal shelving and a warm aged timber patina developed through decades of use.
Today it offers a wide range of decorative possibilities, functioning equally well as a wall-mounted display cabinet, collector’s cabinet, curiosity cupboard or practical storage piece.
Its combination of industrial heritage and traditional craftsmanship makes it an appealing addition to both period and contemporary interiors.
