A handsome Edwardian oak tantalus complete with three matching cut crystal decanters, each retaining its original faceted stopper.
The oak frame is fitted with plated mounts, decorative escutcheons, and a carrying handle, while the locking mechanism remains present with its accompanying key.
Tantalus sets became popular during the Victorian and Edwardian periods, designed to securely store spirits whilst allowing the owner to retain control of access.
This example features three beautifully cut decanters with an attractive geometric pattern that catches and reflects the light exceptionally well.
Equally suited to use as a whisky, brandy, or liqueur set, it also makes an impressive decorative display piece for a study, gentleman’s library, drinks cabinet, or country house interior.
A classic example of Edwardian craftsmanship combining practicality with elegant presentation.
