Description

Height: 40cm

Width: 30cm

A charming taxidermy baby rhea chick mounted upon an attractive carved ebonised wooden display stand.

This unusual natural history specimen captures the distinctive appearance of a young rhea, with its long slender legs, inquisitive expression and soft mottled juvenile plumage.

The bird is presented in an upright pose that highlights the elegant proportions and prehistoric character for which ratites are renowned.

Native to South America, rheas are amongst the largest flightless birds in the world and are closely related to ostriches and emus.

Juvenile examples such as this are considerably less commonly encountered than adult specimens, making them particularly appealing to collectors of exotic taxidermy and natural history curiosities.

Mounted on a decorative circular carved base, the specimen displays beautifully as a standalone cabinet piece and would make a striking addition to any collection of taxidermy, curiosities, Victorian-inspired interiors or natural history displays.
