Description
Height: 31cm
Width: 14cm
A carefully prepared taxidermy parrot identified as a green-cheeked conure (Pyrrhura molinae), presented perched on a turned ebonised wooden stand with a circular base.
The bird displays the characteristic features of the species, including a soft grey head, green wings and back, warm yellow to red tones across the chest and lower body, blue flight feathers, and a long tail with reddish undertones.
The beak and feet are proportioned naturally, giving the mount a balanced and lifelike profile.
Green-cheeked conures are small South American parrots native to woodland and forest regions, and specimens such as this were historically mounted for private study, domestic display, or inclusion within natural history collections.
Mounted birds on stands became particularly popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, bridging the worlds of scientific interest and decorative display.
This example is well suited to a natural history cabinet, Victorian or Edwardian–inspired interior, or as a standalone sculptural object.
Care instructions
