This fascinating piece of mid-20th-century medical history features a working Coldlight Illuminator with an original spinal and pelvic X-ray dated 22-10-1971.
Once used in hospitals and diagnostic centres, these machines were vital for interpreting radiographs before the digital era.
This example still functions, casting a warm, eerie glow behind the displayed X-ray and making it a striking visual piece for collectors, set designers, or those curating macabre or scientific interiors.
Made in Britain by GEC Medical, this Coldlight Series 3 model has a utilitarian industrial design with original switch, front clips for holding film, and working internal lighting.
The included X-ray shows the pelvis and spine of a patient identified as “H.E. Attewill” in 1971, adding historical authenticity.
