A fine mid-20th century scientific microscope manufactured by the renowned London instrument makers W. Watson & Sons Ltd.

This example is the firm’s “Service” model, retaining its original black enamel and brass finish, engraved with serial number 66433.

Founded in the nineteenth century, Watson microscopes were widely used by laboratories, universities, hospitals and scientific institutions throughout Britain and across the world.

The Service model became particularly popular due to its robust construction, quality optics and dependable performance.

This microscope features a monocular tube, revolving objective turret, mechanical stage clips, mirror illumination and rack-and-pinion focusing controls.

Several objective lenses remain present, including a marked ⅙ inch objective, demonstrating its original scientific functionality.

Serial numbers in this range suggest manufacture during the late 1950s, making this a wonderful example of British scientific instrument making from the post-war period.

An attractive display piece for collectors of microscopes, medical antiques, scientific instruments and educational history.

Please note that although the microscope appears largely complete, it is offered as a collectible scientific instrument and may require cleaning, calibration or servicing before regular use.
