Description

Height: 13cm

Width: 6cm

A beautifully formed Georgian ale glass dating to circa 1780, showcasing a striking wrythen moulded bowl and a finely worked twist stem.

The conical bowl is decorated with a bold spiral (wrythen) pattern, creating a dynamic optical effect that catches the light beautifully from every angle.

The stem features a subtle twist detail, leading down to a neatly formed foot with the characteristic slightly irregular finish associated with hand-blown 18th century glass.

The proportions are elegant and refined, typical of late Georgian drinking glasses designed for ale.

This type of glass reflects both the craftsmanship and social customs of the period, where ale was a staple beverage and glassware was designed to be both functional and decorative.

A strong example for collectors of early English glass.

Care instructions:
Handle with care due to age. Wash gently by hand in lukewarm water with mild detergent. Avoid sudden temperature changes and do not place in a dishwasher. Dry with a soft cloth and store securely.
