A rare and highly collectable Cornishware lidded jar by T.G. Green, bearing the sought-after early “Church Gresley” backstamp.
This mark dates to an earlier phase of production at Church Gresley, Derbyshire, and is considered one of the more desirable backstamps among Cornishware collectors.
The presence of this stamp firmly places the piece within the early 20th century production period, prior to later standardised markings.
The jar features the classic Cornishware blue and white banded design, with a well-proportioned cylindrical body and matching lid with central knop.
The banding remains bold and clean, a defining feature of authentic early examples. Lidded forms such as this were produced for practical kitchen storage, making them both functional and visually iconic.
Early stamped pieces like this are increasingly scarce, particularly complete examples retaining their original lid and clear factory mark.
Care instructions:
Hand wash only. Avoid soaking or placing in a dishwasher. Dry thoroughly after cleaning and avoid sudden temperature changes to preserve the glaze and structure.
