An antique Nicole Frères four cylinder music box housed within a fitted wooden case featuring inlaid decoration to the lid.
The box opens to reveal the mechanism beneath a glazed viewing panel, with brass control levers marked for repeat and stop functions.
Nicole Frères of Geneva were among the most respected makers of high-quality musical boxes during the 19th century, known for precision engineering and refined musical output.
Multi-cylinder examples such as this allowed for interchangeable cylinders, offering a varied repertoire within a single instrument.
The interior is neatly arranged with the pinned cylinder and comb visible through the glass panel, alongside original control plates engraved “Nicole Frères” and “Geneve.”
The case itself is constructed with clean lines and subtle inlay, providing a restrained yet elegant presentation.
A fine example of traditional Swiss craftsmanship, combining mechanical ingenuity with decorative appeal.
