Description
Width: 42cm

A substantial antique hand-carved wooden bowl with deep rustic character and beautiful aged surface patina throughout.
Likely originally used as a primitive mortar, grain bowl, or utilitarian kitchen vessel, this piece has been hewn from a single section of hardwood and retains its wonderfully irregular hand-worked form.
The interior shows clear evidence of age and repeated use, while the exterior displays old tool marks, shrinkage cracks, darkened wear, and historic repairs or pegging consistent with genuine early craftsmanship.
The heavily worn surface and rich dark colouring give the bowl an exceptional sculptural quality, making it equally suitable as a decorative interior piece, primitive country farmhouse accent, or folk art display object.
Dating likely to the late 19th century or earlier, this is a highly tactile and authentic example of vernacular carved treen.
