An unusual antique butter dish featuring a blue and white ceramic insert set within a substantial carved wooden surround.

The ceramic dish is decorated in the traditional Willow pattern, with pagodas, bridge, trees and landscape detailing.

The wooden surround is hand-carved with the word “Butter” in Gothic-style lettering across the top, together with simple geometric decoration around the border.

A particularly charming piece of antique kitchenalia with a wonderfully rustic country-house appearance.

The ceramic insert displays considerable age-related crazing, staining and wear, with a noticeable chip/loss to the rim as photographed.

The wooden surround also shows expected knocks, marks and wear consistent with age and use. Please study photographs carefully as they form part of the condition description.
