Description

An impressive large natural botryoidal hematite, traditionally known as kidney ore, weighing approximately 1.16kg.

This substantial specimen displays the distinctive rounded, grape-like botryoidal formations for which kidney ore hematite is known.

The exposed surfaces have a striking dark gunmetal to almost black metallic lustre, contrasting beautifully with areas of natural reddish-brown iron-rich matrix.

The specimen has excellent sculptural form, with numerous rounded hematite formations of varying sizes across the surface.

A particularly striking example for a mineral collection, natural history display or cabinet of curiosities.

A naturally formed geological specimen, so irregularities, surface variations, fractures and minor losses are part of its character.
