Description
A beautiful natural Cleoniceras ammonite fossil from Madagascar, measuring approximately 9cm and weighing 170g.
The fossil retains a particularly attractive natural iridescent nacreous surface, displaying flashes of green, blue, violet, pink and gold as it catches the light.
The characteristic spiral form remains clearly defined, with areas of the original shell preserved across both sides.
Cleoniceras ammonites date to the Cretaceous period, making this an attractive natural history specimen as well as a highly decorative fossil.
There are natural areas of loss, fractures and wear to the shell, including the larger missing section visible in the photographs.
These are part of the specimen and have been left as found.
