Description

A striking vintage Mettoy tinplate racing car, featuring a streamlined aerodynamic body and bold No. 5 racing livery.

The lithographed tinplate body is finished in red, blue, black and yellow with wonderful period detailing, including a printed driver, sweeping exhaust design, stylised grille and heavily streamlined wheel arches.

The exaggerated low-slung shape gives the car a fantastic pre-war racing and land-speed-record appearance.

The underside retains its original metal chassis and four wheels.

A very decorative example of classic British tinplate toy manufacture, ideal for a collection of Mettoy, vintage racing toys or early tinplate vehicles.

The car shows age-related wear, scratches, rubbing and areas of paint loss consistent with age and use, as photographed.
