A striking Royal Doulton Archives Burslem Artwares flambé vase finished in the rich and dramatic “Oriental Sung” glaze, produced as part of the prestigious late 20th century revival series celebrating the historic glaze techniques of early Royal Doulton art pottery.

This example is the BA15 Fanling Vase shape and displays deep oxblood red tones flowing through smoky black and charcoal flambé effects, creating a beautifully organic marbled surface.

The glaze style was inspired by ancient Chinese Sung dynasty ceramics and reinterpreted by Royal Doulton’s Burslem studio potters using traditional high-temperature reduction firing methods.

The underside bears the Royal Doulton Archives Burslem Artwares backstamp and accompanying certificate confirming this piece as a limited edition of only 350 examples, with this vase numbered 55.
