An authentic vintage Excelsior pigeon racing timing clock, housed within its original black-painted wooden carrying case with brass name plate and hinged access flap.
These specialised clocks were used by racing pigeon fanciers to accurately record the arrival times of competing birds, forming an essential part of organised pigeon racing throughout the twentieth century.
The front viewing aperture reveals the internal timing drum mechanism and printed recording chart, while the robust wooden case was designed to protect the delicate movement during transport to and from race stations.
The brass flap and carrying handle add further character to this highly collectable piece of sporting history.
Pigeon racing clocks have become increasingly sought after by collectors of agricultural, sporting and industrial antiques, as well as those looking for unusual decorative pieces with genuine historical significance.
A fascinating survivor from the golden age of competitive pigeon racing and a wonderful display item for a study, office, man cave or collector’s cabinet.
