A rare early Cornishware cocoa jar and lid by T.G. Green, featuring the classic shield-form Cornish Kitchen Ware backstamp.
This example displays the iconic blue and white banded design, with bold “COCOA” lettering across the front.
The form is well-proportioned, with a slightly shouldered body and original fitted lid with central knop, both finished in matching banding.
The presence of the early shield backstamp places this piece within an earlier production period, making it particularly desirable among collectors.
Named storage jars such as cocoa, tea, and sugar were staple items in Cornishware ranges, though complete early examples with lids are increasingly difficult to find.
A strong and recognisable piece of British kitchenware, combining practical design with enduring visual appeal.
Care instructions:
Hand wash only using mild detergent. Avoid abrasive materials and sudden temperature changes to preserve the glaze and printed lettering.
