A highly decorative Louis XVI style jardinière stand dating to the early twentieth century, combining fine mahogany craftsmanship with elegant gilt brass embellishments and a striking marble top.

The shaped square top is inset with a beautifully figured marble panel and enclosed by a pierced brass gallery, originally designed to safely display a planter, urn, clock, or decorative object.

Beneath the top runs an ornate gilt brass frieze featuring scrolling foliate motifs, complemented by applied brass mounts to each corner.

Raised on four slender tapering legs with fluted detailing and brass embellishments, the stand is united by a shaped undertier stretcher, creating a graceful and balanced silhouette.

The overall design reflects the refined French neoclassical aesthetic popularised during the Louis XVI period and revived in high-quality decorative furniture around the turn of the twentieth century.
