A superb Victorian mahogany Pembroke table by the renowned cabinet makers Gillows of Lancaster, one of the most respected names in nineteenth-century British furniture making.

Crafted from solid mahogany, the table features a rectangular top with two hinged drop leaves, allowing it to transform effortlessly from a compact occasional table into a larger surface suitable for dining, writing, games, or display.

The elegant proportions are complemented by finely turned and reeded legs terminating in the original brass cup castors, a hallmark of quality Victorian craftsmanship.

The table retains its original drawer complete with lock and key and bears the desirable Gillows stamp within the drawer.

According to the accompanying provenance, the table was acquired from the estate of former Prime Minister Sir Alec Douglas-Home, adding an additional layer of historical interest.
