Description

Height: 24.5cm

Width: 12cm

A late 19th century Japanese bronze vase dating to the Meiji period, of elegant baluster form with a long, gently flared neck.

The dark patinated bronze body is decorated with an applied goose in relief, its elongated neck following the curve of the vase and with finely detailed plumage picked out across the body.

The restrained decoration and dark surface give the piece a particularly striking appearance.

Raised on a circular foot. A good decorative example of Meiji-period Japanese metalwork.

The vase shows age-related surface wear, rubbing and areas of patination consistent with its age, as shown in the photographs.
