Description

Height: 30.5cm

Width: 11.5cm

An impressive large Victorian lobster wet specimen, preserved and displayed within a substantial tall cylindrical glass specimen jar.

The lobster is presented whole with its large claws raised, allowing the anatomy of the specimen to be viewed clearly from all sides.

The warm amber preservation fluid and traditional glass vessel give the piece the unmistakable appearance of an early natural history or anatomical collection.

Particularly striking due to its considerable size, this is a superb decorative specimen for a cabinet of curiosities, natural history collection, apothecary-style interior or Wunderkammer display.

The glass jar retains an aged appearance consistent with its character, including visible wear and irregularities around the sealed top.

Please study the photographs carefully as these form part of the condition description.

A substantial and highly unusual antique natural history display piece.

Care Instructions:
Keep upright at all times and display away from direct sunlight, heat sources and significant temperature changes. Do not open or disturb the sealed vessel. Handle carefully with both hands, supporting the jar from the base rather than lifting from the lid or rim.
