A charming vintage Lehmann AHA 910 Performing Seal tinplate clockwork toy, made in West Germany.

The toy depicts a performing seal balancing a large yellow ball on its nose, with wonderfully graphic lithographed detailing in shades of blue, green and cream.

The underside is marked “Lehmann AHA 910 – Made in Western Germany – D. Patent.”

The clockwork mechanism is operated using the winding control to the underside and was designed to animate the seal and its balancing ball.

A fantastic example of post-war German tinplate toy manufacture and a highly decorative piece in its own right.

The toy shows age-related surface wear, marks and rubbing consistent with its age, as photographed. A lovely addition to a collection of Lehmann toys, tinplate automata or vintage mechanical toys.
