Description

A fantastic vintage Mettoy tinplate clockwork locomotive, modelled on the famous streamlined LNER Mallard and numbered 4491.

Made in England, the locomotive has a striking lithographed blue tinplate body with black, silver and white detailing, including printed wheels, rivets, streamlined casing and LNER lettering to the tender section.

The underside retains its original mechanical clockwork mechanism.

A particularly attractive example of classic British tinplate railway manufacture and a great display piece for collectors of vintage trains, railwayana and mechanical toys.
