An attractive antique Dokra brass incense burner featuring intricate tribal-style relief decoration, pierced detailing, and a domed hinged lid with floral motifs.
Handcrafted using the traditional lost-wax casting technique associated with Dokra metalwork, this beautifully textured vessel displays layered geometric borders, rope twist detailing, and pierced sections designed to allow fragrant incense smoke to escape whilst burning within.
The interior retains traces of historic use and coloured residue, adding to the authentic character of the piece.
The hinged lid opens smoothly and the burner stands on small applied floral feet. Likely originating from India and dating to the early–mid 20th century, though crafted in a much older traditional style.
A superb decorative object for bohemian, tribal, eclectic, or globally inspired interiors, equally suitable for use as an incense burner, trinket holder, or cabinet display piece.
