A striking large West German floor vase finished in a dramatic volcanic lava glaze, blending deep black textured ceramic with vivid bands of fiery orange and rich oxblood red.

This bold mid-century piece embodies the iconic “Fat Lava” aesthetic that became highly sought after during the 1960s and 1970s, particularly amongst West German pottery producers such as Scheurich, Bay, Jasba and Carstens.

The heavily textured lower body contrasts beautifully against the glossy gradient glaze above, giving the vase a distinctly sculptural presence.
