Description
An original antique German-made humane animal trap, retaining its distinctive sprung cage-style mechanism and original stamped treadle plate marked “Made in Germany.”
Constructed from steel with a polished aged finish, this trap represents an early example of practical pest-control engineering from the late 19th to early 20th century.
Unlike traditional jaw traps, this design utilises a sprung retaining frame activated by a pressure plate, intended to capture rather than injure.
Such traps were commonly used by gamekeepers, farmers and estate workers throughout Europe and are increasingly sought after today for their unusual mechanical design and industrial appearance.
The clean lines, exposed working mechanism and original maker’s stamp make this an excellent display piece for collectors of agricultural antiques, country house artefacts, trapping equipment and industrial curiosities.
