An original Second World War German commemorative plaque relating to the Narvik Campaign of 1940, mounted upon a shaped oak shield backboard.

The plaque features a cast metal Narvik badge displaying an anchor, propeller and edelweiss motif beneath the German eagle, together with a personalised engraved dedication plate.

The inscription records the name Aigust Regner, unit designation G.J.R. 139, and the date 10.11.1940.

The Battle of Narvik was one of the most significant campaigns of the Norwegian Campaign during 1940, making surviving period commemorative items highly sought after by collectors of military history and wartime memorabilia.

Constructed from oak with applied brass and metal fittings, the plaque displays a rich aged patina throughout and remains a fascinating historical artefact from the Second World War period.
