Description
An original Prussian lance cap (Pickelhaube), dating to the late 19th to early 20th century, associated with Imperial German cavalry and lancer regiments.
This example features the distinctive high-domed leather body with extended rear skirt, surmounted by a cruciform spike mount (lance fitting), characteristic of lancer helmets.
The front is mounted with a detailed brass Prussian eagle plate, displaying the royal coat of arms, a defining symbol of Imperial German military equipment.
The helmet retains its blackened leather finish with brass trim to the peak, alongside original fittings including side mounts for the chinstrap.
The form reflects both ceremonial presence and functional military design, worn by elite mounted troops within the Prussian army.
A striking and recognisable piece of European militaria, ideal for collectors of Imperial German items or cavalry equipment.
Stand not included.
Care instructions:
Keep in a stable, dry environment. Avoid excessive polishing of the brass fittings to preserve original patina. Leather can be lightly conditioned if required using conservation-grade products.
