Height: 28.5cm
Width: 20cm
A colourful antique Staffordshire pottery flatback figure depicting the famous English highwayman Dick Turpin, modelled seated upon a black horse.
Turpin is shown in traditional dress with a dark blue coat, yellow breeches and tricorn-style hat, while the horse is finished in a glossy black glaze with gilt-painted bridle details.
The naturalistic moulded base is titled “DICK TURPIN” across the front.
A striking example of Staffordshire’s popular historical and theatrical figure groups, with strong colours and an impressive display presence.
The piece displays age-related crazing, rubbing and general surface wear consistent with antique Staffordshire pottery.
There is visible wear and discolouration around the horse’s muzzle and some losses to the painted and gilt decoration. Please study the photographs carefully for condition.
