A charming late 19th-century wax doll diorama, circa 1880, displayed beneath its original-style tall glass dome.
The central scene depicts a finely modelled female figure holding a child, dressed in period costume with hand-painted and gilt details.
The figures are arranged amongst decorative flowers and foliage, including silvered floral sprays forming an arch around the central group.
The interior is raised on tiered groundwork with further moulded flowers to the front, all contained beneath a tall hand-blown glass dome and mounted on a decorative footed base.
An unusual piece of Victorian folk art and domestic decorative history, with the delicate wax figures surviving within their protective dome.
